Country Tax Calculator was built for a deceptively simple question: if I earn this much there, what might land in my account?
Most international salary tools choose between breadth and transparency. We want both—without pretending that a screening estimate has the precision of a local payroll engine.
Our principles
- Show the working. Results expose income tax, social contributions, regional tax, allowances and marginal bands.
- Label confidence. Reference-linked country models and directional screening estimates are visibly different and have different publication rules.
- Keep salary data private. Calculations happen in your browser and require no account.
- Separate different questions. Currency conversion, tax and purchasing power are distinct lenses.
- Prefer primary sources. Published country pages link to the authority material used for review.
What this site is—and is not
It is a free planning and educational tool spanning 114+ country scenarios, a smaller publication set with linked references, international comparisons and plain-language guides. It is not a filing service, a payroll provider or a substitute for advice based on your residence, family, income sources and treaty position.
How changes are checked
Country pages link the references relevant to each model and explain its exclusions. The calculator, worked examples and comparison tables use one calculation engine. Automated checks cover calculation behavior and scenario sharing; passing those checks does not independently certify a country's tax rules.
Source review, calculation verification and content changes are separate tasks. A rule update should identify the authority reference, effective tax year, changed assumption and affected examples. The change history records product and content changes without implying a new tax-law review.
Screening models create illustrative thresholds from stored headline inputs. They are opt-in, labelled beside the result and excluded from published rankings and country pages. Read the model-quality policy.
Why we publish
The project exists to help people frame an international salary decision, see which assumptions drive an estimate and know what to verify next. Pages are selected for a clear user task—not generated merely because a country-keyword combination exists.
Independent by default
The calculation engine does not rank products or adjust results for commercial partners. If the site later includes advertising or referral relationships, they will be labelled and kept outside the calculation methodology.
