Gross salaries are expressed in US dollars, converted to local currency and then taxed. The higher net result at each level is marked.

USD equivalents use planning FX assumptions dated 4 September 2026; these are not live market quotes. Refine personal assumptions in the calculator above.

At a $100,000 gross equivalent, the model leaves about $20,820 more after modelled employee deductions in United Arab Emirates. That difference reflects the stored resident-employee scenarios; it is not a cost-of-living or job-market conclusion.

Between $20,000 and $500,000 gross, the same country leaves more take-home at every level tested, so the ranking does not flip with salary under the default assumptions.

Two models, two sets of exclusions

United States model

Federal income tax, employee FICA and optional state income tax for a resident employee.

  • Uses the 2026 single-filer standard deduction by default.
  • FICA is modelled as 6.2% Social Security up to the wage base, 1.45% Medicare on all wages and 0.9% Additional Medicare above $200,000 ($250,000 for the married approximation).
  • State tax is selected separately; local, itemised deductions and credits are excluded.

United Arab Emirates model

No federal personal income tax on employment income.

  • Mandatory pension contributions may apply to Emirati and GCC nationals.
  • VAT and housing/municipality fees are outside this salary calculator.

What the difference does—and does not—mean

At an equivalent gross amount, the comparison isolates the effect of the two modelled tax systems. It does not claim that the same role commands the same exchange-rate salary in both countries.

To compare real offers, enter different local salaries and monthly budgets above. Rent, healthcare and schooling may outweigh a difference in tax. These budgets are your assumptions, not measured national purchasing-power indices.
